The planned kayak trip to Nine Mile Swamp had to be changed because beavers made a new impassable dam a few hundred yards from the put in. In addition, the co-leader stood the group up. So the 10 paddlers, without a co-leader, adapted and went to Leland Pond. After one loop around the upper pond the group split. Five paddlers took two more loops around the upper pond for a 4 mile total paddle. Four of the paddlers carried their kayaks across the road to explore the lower pond.

One kayaker, Margaret, did an amazing limbo contortion to go under the very low bridge to get to the lower pond. It was a pleasant trip on calm waters on a hot day. Some stopped for ice cream and some had stronger refreshments after.
