7273 Clockmill Pond
August 20, 2022

Write-up: Jim Wasielewski Leader: Greg Sipp Co-Leader: Dianna Morris 7 of us hiked 5.5 miles to Clockmill Pond and Rock Lake. I think it’s the first time the Tramps have hiked there. The trail to Clockmill Pond looked like an old snowmobile trail. The trail to Rock Lake was technical and challenging. The photos are of Clockmill Pond. We bushwhacked a short distance to Rock Lake but could not get down to the water. Thanks to Greg and Dianna for…

7268 North Lake
August 7, 2022

Write-up: Bobbie Scarpino Leader: Bobbie Scarpino Co- Leader: Madonna Fellows 11 paddlers drove north to our destination, South Lake. Passing by North Lake on the way, we noticed how the water was as smooth as glass with a beautiful sunny sky overhead. We all began to look forward to a day of kayaking with excellent conditions. However, 2.4 miles further down the same road at the put-in for South Lake, the opposite conditions prevailed. The skies were dark and ominous and the…

7266 John Pond
July 31, 2022

Write up-Madonna Fellows Leader: Madonna Fellows Co-leader: Don Fellows Ten Tramps ventured off on a beautiful Sunday morning for a trek in the woods to John Pond. We stopped at the lean -to  for lunch  once we arrived at the pond. Some of us settled in there and were enjoying sitting by the lake so much that we hated to leave. We finally gathered our belongings and continued on to Clear Pond to continue the loop. The first part of…

7265 Middle Settlement Lake
July 30, 2022

Write-up: Russ MyersLeader: Russ MyersCo-Leader: Dianna Morris  Eleven of us hiked to Middle Settlement Lake on an overcast 67-degree day. The hike to the lake was uneventful and we stopped short of the lean-to at another point overlooking the lake on a nice rock outcropping. We saw Sharon Kaelin and Sir Tom Smith from across the bay. They had hiked in another way and were enjoying the lean-to. After lunch, Greg Sipp took the lead in returning to our cars…

7264 Big Otter Horse Trail
July 24, 2022

Write-up: Paul Sirtoli Leader- Paul Sirtoli Co-leader Jeremy Alexander It was a blessing that the tramps did not join Jeremy Alexander and I at the Otter Creek horse trails for the leisurely bike ride.  They would be highly unhappy with the extremely sandy roads which necessitated walking the mountain bikes.  Covering nearly 15 miles, we rode and walked the bikes for four hours on both horse trail and the gravel/sandy road system.   The trip high light was our lunch break at…

7262 North Lake Paddle
July 23, 2022

Write-up: Jim WasielewskiLeader: Jim WasielewskiCo-leader: Dave Gilbert Ten of us kayaked 5.5 miles on a hot and windy day. It seems like North Lake is always windy. We had an opportunity to practice our team rescue thanks to Laura voluntarily flipping her kayak. The rescue team consisted of Mary Pat, previous synchronized water ballet “diva,” Jean manning the bilge pump and Dave uprighting the kayak. As the photos depict the team mobilized and secured the situation. Swimming was also in the…

7259 Nine Mile Swamp/Leland Pond
July 17, 2022

Write-up: Walt PillarLeader: Walt PillarCo-Leader: The planned kayak trip to Nine Mile Swamp had to be changed because beavers made a new impassable  dam a few hundred yards from the put in. In addition, the co-leader stood the group up. So the 10 paddlers, without a co-leader, adapted and  went to Leland Pond. After one loop around the upper pond the group split. Five paddlers took two more loops around the upper pond for a 4 mile total paddle. Four…

July 3, 2022

Write-up: Walt Pillar Leader: Walt Pillar Co-Leader: Bobbie Scarpino 17 of us ventured out on Tuscarora Lake for a relaxing 4-mile kayak trip around the lake. The weather was perfect with cloudless blue skies and there were few power boats to contend with. Several of the camps were decorated for the 4th of July celebration. Lunch and refreshments after the paddle were at a nearby taco restaurant.

7253 Indian & Stewart Lakes

Write-up: Ann DamianoLeader: Phil GwynCo-Leader: Ann Damiano Eleven of us hiked a gentle path to Indian Lake. At the start, the hike was muggy and buggy, but soon the clouds dispersed and by the time we stopped for lunch, it was a perfect summer afternoon. There was very little mud on the trail, considering this was in the ADK. The group credited Phil with providing a refreshing breeze by the lake.

7247 Chittenango Falls State Park
June 18, 2022

Write-up: Sue Manier Leader: Sue Manier Co-Leader: Bobbie Scarpino Twenty tramps hiked 4 miles on a cool summer day. We viewed the picturesque 167-foot waterfall from the top, walked the winding trail into the gorge, viewed the falls from the footbridge and returned to the top along the small trail on the opposite side of the gorge. We hiked under the bridge, followed the creek and looped around to the other side of the bridge to have lunch.
