We set out on what could have been a miserable hike due to the rain. But, that didn’t happen. A little drizzle didn’t stop the 11 of us on this destination hike. We hiked to the base of Moulin Mtn., and then bushwhacked to both peaks. After that goal, we descended to Gibbs Lake, then attempted to venture to Half Moon Pond.
Due to high waters, that wasn’t going to happen. The drizzle eventually stopped, and the mosquitoes started. When moving, you didn’t notice them. Stopping was a different story. They are just annoying.
Having Paul on this hike and his vast knowledge of the area came in useful. He remembered hiking in the past to an area with a specular view. Nothing on the GPS indicated a trail, but Paul was right as usual.
We hiked for about a mile, coming across a sign indicating the way to Elisa’s Lookout. Once there, we were treated to a fantastic view while having lunch.
