On an absolutely gorgeous fall October day, except for the constant rain and cool temperatures, 17 tramps took part on a rewarding outing up in Altmar New York. The first stop was at the Salmon River fish hatchery where everyone seemed to enjoy watching the salmon jump up the concrete ladders and also try to jump through the green barrier in the stream. Not many pictures from the fish hatchery, as I forgot my camera. Luckily Peter came to the rescue by the time we got up to the Salmon River Falls, and snapped a few pictures for me.
The Rain did not keep most of the tramps from enjoying a walk along the Salmon River, and viewing the Falls. As can be seen in one of the pictures, three of the tramps decided to duck out of the rain, and spend their time in a shelter.
After enjoying the Salmon River Falls, we stopped for a little while down at the bridge in Altmar to watch people fish for the elusive Chinook salmon. A few fisherman were able to hook salmon, but were not able to get them in before they broke off.
After that it was on to the bowling alley in Camden for those who wanted to stop and have some post hike, refreshments. Despite the rain, most people enjoyed this outing up in Altmar, although the leaves were not quite as spectacular as hoped.
