The Thayer Farm, spanning 256 acres, was originally established by William Thayer (1775-1861).
In 1983, it was generously donated to the SUNY Oneonta Biological Field Station to serve as a hub for research and education. With lakefront access to Otsego Lake, a boat house, scenic trails, a sugar bush and extensive mature woodlands, the farm offers a diverse natural landscape. 30 Tramps explored the lake side portion of the farm on a 5-mile hike on a perfect weather day.
The day was made even more special by an after hike get-together and luncheon at Lou and Bridget Priems’ home that afforded a stunning view overlooking Otsego Lake.
